Affin Bank: Introduction
Affin Bank, the full name of which is Affin Bank Berhad, appears to be a Malaysian Bank, which is partly owned by the Malaysian Armed Forces (35.4%). 20.7% of the bank’s shares belong to Boustead Holdings. The bank was founded back in 1975 and plays one of the leading roles in the Malaysian banking market nowadays.
But this bank had also undergone a number of mergers and acquisitions until it turned into what it appears to be nowadays. The present-day Affin Bank was formed by a merger of BSN Commercial Berhad and Perwira Affin Bank, which took place back in 2001. Four years later, the bank also merged with Affin-ACF Finance Behrad.
As of the present time, this bank offers a number of products in the retail and corporate banking, but it is especially focused on offering the services of Islamic banking via its subsidiary Affin Islamic Bank Behrad. Apart from that, the bank also has the following subsidiaries: AIIMAN Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Affin Hwang Asset Management Behrad, Affin Hwang Investment Bank Behrad, and Affin Hwang Capital.
